When will I find love? Marriage timing in your Kundali
“When will I get married?” is one of the oldest questions brought to a Jyotishi, and it is still one of the most common. Some people ask it with hope, some with impatience, and some after a long stretch of disappointment. Jyotish cannot hand you a person, but it can show the periods when partnership is strongly emphasised in your life and the kind of relationship your chart is drawn towards.
This guide explains how marriage timing is read in traditional Parashari Jyotish, as practised in Nepal, and is honest about what a reading can and cannot tell you.
How is marriage timing read in a Kundali?
A Jyotishi works in three layers. First, the promise: what the birth chart says about partnership in general, through the 7th house, its lord and the planets connected to them. Second, the dasha: the Vimshottari period and sub-period that can bring that promise into life. Third, the transits of Jupiter and Saturn, which show when the timing is ripe. Marriage is most likely when all three point the same way.
This is why two people of the same age can have very different timing. One may be in a dasha that strongly activates the 7th house at 26; another may not reach such a period until their early thirties.
The 7th house, its lord, Venus and Jupiter
The 7th house is the house of marriage and committed partnership. Its condition, the planets in it, and the strength and placement of its lord describe how partnership unfolds. Alongside it, two planets are read as karakas, natural significators:
- Venus: love, attraction and the capacity for partnership in every chart, and traditionally the significator of the wife in a man’s chart.
- Jupiter: wisdom, blessing and dharma, and in traditional reading the significator of the husband in a woman’s chart, so its strength and transits are given special weight there.
- The Navamsha (D9) chart: the divisional chart of marriage, used to confirm what the main chart suggests about the spouse and married life.
Which dasha or antardasha brings marriage?
Marriage usually comes in the dasha or antardasha of a planet connected to the 7th house: the 7th lord, a planet placed in the 7th, a planet aspecting it, or Venus. In a woman’s chart, Jupiter’s periods are also watched closely. Rahu often brings relationships too, sometimes suddenly. The lords of the 2nd house (family) and 11th house (fulfilment of wishes) can support the timing.
For example, someone running Venus dasha with the antardasha of their 7th lord coming up would have that sub-period marked as a likely window, provided the transits agree. Equally, a long dasha of a planet with no link to the 7th house can coincide with years when relationships feel quiet, which is not the same as never.
Jupiter and Saturn transits for marriage
Many Jyotishis use the “double transit”: marriage is most likely when both Jupiter and Saturn, by placement or aspect, touch the 7th house or its lord, counted from the ascendant or from the Moon, during a supportive dasha. Jupiter takes about a year in each sign and Saturn about two and a half, so these windows open slowly and are useful for seeing which years matter.
Saturn’s transits, including Sade Sati, are not automatically bad for marriage. Saturn often brings commitment and seriousness, and many people marry while Saturn is influencing the 7th house. What changes is the tone: slower, more deliberate, sometimes after delays.
Single and ready to mingle: what your chart says about meeting someone
If you are single and genuinely ready, the useful questions are when and where, not only whether. The 5th house shows romance and dating, the 11th house friendships, networks and social circles, and the 7th house committed partnership. When a dasha or transit activates the 5th and 11th, social life tends to open up: more introductions, more events, more chances to meet people. When the 7th is activated as well, those meetings are more likely to turn serious.
A reading can point you towards the months to say yes to invitations, to let family introduce someone, or to give a new connection a real chance. It cannot do the meeting for you, and it works best alongside an ordinary, open social life.
Finding the love of her life, or his life
People often ask what their future partner will be like. The 7th house sign, its lord, the planets there and the Navamsha describe qualities rather than a face or a name: a partner who is steady and responsible, or warm and expressive, or ambitious and independent; someone from a similar background, or from far away. Whether you are a woman hoping to find the love of her life or a man looking for the love of his, this description can help you recognise the kind of person who suits you and stop chasing the kind who does not.
Love marriage or arranged marriage: what the Kundali shows
A link between the 5th house of romance and the 7th house of marriage, through their lords, a shared planet or a mutual aspect, is traditionally read as a sign of love marriage. Venus and Mars together, or Rahu involved with the 7th house, can point the same way. A strong 7th house with Jupiter’s blessing and little 5th-house involvement is more often seen with arranged or family-introduced marriages.
In practice, many Nepali marriages abroad are a mix of both: the couple meet on their own, then the families are brought in and the Kundalis matched. Neither path is better in the chart; each has its own strengths.
Rahu in the 7th house: what it really means for marriage
Rahu in the 7th house, with Ketu opposite in the 1st, is often searched with worry. It is not a curse. Rahu amplifies whatever it touches, so partnership becomes a major theme of life. It is commonly read as attraction to someone unconventional or from a different culture, caste, country or background; strong desire and idealisation in relationships; and sometimes delay, confusion or an unusual way of meeting.
How it plays out depends on the sign Rahu is in, the condition of the 7th lord, whether Jupiter aspects it, and the Rahu dasha’s timing. Many people with Rahu in the 7th have long, committed marriages, often with partners their grandparents would not have predicted.
What a marriage timing reading can and can’t tell you
A reading can show the periods when marriage is strongly indicated, the qualities of a partner who suits you, and the patterns you tend to bring into relationships. It cannot name a date with certainty, choose a person for you, or override your own decisions. Free will, family circumstances and simple chance all play their part. A good Jyotishi gives you windows and tendencies, not a guarantee, and should say so.
For timing, an accurate birth time matters more than for almost any other question, because the 7th house and the dasha dates depend on it. If yours is uncertain, mention it when you book.

Questions people ask
Can astrology tell me exactly when I will get married?
It can show the periods when marriage is most strongly indicated, often narrowed to a year or a dasha sub-period. It cannot promise a date, and a careful Jyotishi will not.
Why is my marriage getting delayed?
Common chart reasons include Saturn’s influence on the 7th house or its lord, a weak Venus or Jupiter, or simply a dasha with little link to partnership. Delay is not denial; it usually means the supportive period has not yet arrived.
Is Rahu in the 7th house bad for marriage?
Not in itself. It often brings an unconventional partner or an unusual path to marriage, and sometimes delay or confusion. The sign, the 7th lord and Jupiter’s aspect decide how it plays out.
Will I have a love marriage or an arranged marriage?
Links between the 5th and 7th houses, Venus with Mars, or Rahu on the 7th lean towards love marriage. But many marriages today are a blend of both, and the chart shows tendencies rather than a fixed script.
Do I need my exact birth time for a marriage timing reading?
It helps a great deal, because the houses and dasha dates depend on it. Without it, a reading can still use the Moon, Venus and Jupiter, but the timing will be broader.
Which planet is most important for marriage?
The lord of the 7th house first, then Venus in every chart, and in traditional reading Jupiter in a woman’s chart. No single planet decides it alone; they are read together with the dasha.
